My newborn niece!
Eiríkur and Amelía just had a baby girl! Here are some photos.
Curtis and his girlfriend Karen visited Iceland last week. He stopped by at Mjölnir and taught classes over the weekend.
On Saturday we went and saw the Sigurrós and Björk concert. The weather was great and the concert was good. A lot of hippies showed up
On Sunday we went to Stokkseyri for delicious lobster soup, garlic and butter drenched lobster…. and cake.
I had a great time hanging out with them over the weekend. It’s fun to get to be a tourist in your own country..
Renzo was interviewed by an Icelandic TV station during his visit here. I think it turned out great. It is good publicity for the club and brazilian jiu-jitsu.
Gunni was also interviewed. He’s competing tomorrow in a grappling match against some Polish giant in Ireland.
Here is a link to the interview, some of it is in Icelandic.
As if I needed any more reasons to visit Indonesia again…
Niko Han has opened up a BJJ gym in Bali.
First jiu jitsu training in about 8 months was last week. I’m trying to get back into this thing. On my first training I had no other than Renzo Gracie as an instructor. Not a bad way to come out of a hiatus.
Renzo visited Mjölnir last week, arranged by Sheik Tahnoon as a friendly gesture. This is what I love about this sport. It’s still possible to meet the top guys and get to train with them. As the sport grows bigger I hope that never changes.
The visit was a great success. Renzo is a very likable, generous guy. When he left he’d gotten us really fired up with ideas how to run the club better. This is going to be a good year for Mjölnir.
Last Saturday I left Denmark after staying there for half a year. It’s been a great experience, I learned a lot and made good friends, many of whom I hope to stay in contact with for a long time.
I have been busy since arriving in Iceland and more or less without internet so I am a bit late in uploading these pictures from the last week in Denmark. Enjoy.
We came back from Copenhagen last Sunday after five good days in the capital.
First we went to see Bodies and I managed to walk through the whole exhibition without getting too squeamish about it. However, our resident goth managed to faint inside the exhibition hall. Call me nasty but I found that really funny
On Friday we went to Thorvaldsens museum to see sculptures. Interesting stuff. Most interesting was to see an explanation of the process of making sculptures.
On Saturday we went to a comics convention. Lots of geeks. I love geeks.
We did other stuff, went to the park, drank beer, partied, ate chinese food (lots of chinese food!) and of course smørrebrød.
On Wednesday we are going to Copenhagen to see Bodies, the exhibition. I am a bit squeamish so I don’t know how I’ll do. We will then go to the danish comics convention, which I am looking forward to. I’ve never been to a real geek-fest like that. We’ll also take a look at some museums. The whole time we’ll have our sketchbooks with us. I’m looking forward to it.
The last 5 months have been great. I will be here for less than three more weeks and then I’m going home to Iceland. I’m a bit homesick to tell the truth. I miss my family and friends and a million little things.
Yesterday I called Ichon for some debriefing. Danni had just gone back to Japan after a month in Indonesia and Ichon had funny stories to tell. Since international calls are quite expensive I only got the headlines for some of the stories. Danni is supposed to fill me in on the rest when I meet him in Iceland. I’m supposed to ask him about the story of the “5 percent”. Can’t wait ![]()

I had been having some problems with the fan on my powerbook. It would start up everytime I watched a video or was involved in heavy processing. It was really annoying since it had started to get quite loud (most likely have to get a new fan when I get home).
I managed to solve the problem though. First I used a temperature monitor to pinpoint the problem. Each time the heat went over 60 degrees, the fan went off like crazy. I tried elevating the laptop (get some air underneath it), unplugging the electrical chord (did turn the heat down a little bit) and even tried sticking a cool pack under it, mac on ice
But what saved me was this cool (no pun intended) little app called FastAndSlow which lets me slow down the speed of the machine and thereby avoid overheating. I’ve got the temperature monitor running, and sure enough, my baby stays cool while watching video content.
Danni goes to Indonesia today. He’s been staying in Japan for the last three months and now he will spend a month in Indonesia staying at Ichon’s place.
I know they will have a good time. There will be much laughing and knowing Ichon I’m sure he will do his best to pull some prank on Danni or try to get him in trouble.
I wish I could be there with them.
This picture is taken last August at Hoka Hoka Bento in a mall whose name I’ve forgot (Jakarta has hundreds of malls). We had such short time then since Danni only stayed for a week, but it was a great week.
Have fun guys ![]()
